Welcome to my site. So glad that you dropped by! I’m Ellie, a writer, dreamer and perpetual student of life. I spent most of my childhood lost in my imagination, whether it was buried in a stack of books or putting on ballets for dozens of my dolls. As an adult, I’m still in my imagination, conjuring up stories to bring to the page.
I’ve always loved storytelling. Hearing them, telling them, it makes no difference. Give me some good characters and I’m hooked. I’ve written more seriously in the last 3 years and currently in the process of reworking a draft of something I started back then and tucked away at some point when life got too busy. So I’ve taken her out, dusted her off and she is begging me to finish her. So I am.
I love to read, since writers are readers first and foremost. I’ll read anything, I always have. When I was about 8, I read my favorite childhood book, Someday Angeline, by Louis Sachar. I don’t remember much about it except that the MC had lost her parents, loved science and nearly drowned. I think what connected me to her is the she lived at the beach and as a kid, I desperately wanted to comb the sands everyday. Not long after, I discovered my second favorite childhood book, The Magic of the Glitz, by CS Adler. For me this book was more magical than anything Disney could dish out. I read it over and over again. And probably will again at some point. I adored Pete’s Dragon, Punky Brewster and the short-lived Rags to Riches on TV. Funny enough, all of the MCs are orphans in a sense. I wasn’t an orphan. I have an amazing family. But I suppose I felt like one at times because I never really knew people who were into all the things I was into as a kid. An orphan via the imagination.
Besides reading and writing, I love dance, art, photography, travel, gardening and sunsets.
For now I’ll be writing about writing, and books, and authors, and little tips I’ve picked up on along the way. I do not promise that it will all be accurate. Everyone has to right their own way, but I also think there’s something to be learned from everyone. And since my favorite thing to talk about is writing, I figured I might as well get online and talk about it too!
So with that, please bring your own comments, questions and tips. And happy writing to you!
